Occasional Wine Note: Well it is delicious and we feel that it’s a great representation of the easy drinking blends of Châteauneuf du Pape. Châteauneuf du Pape translates to Château of the new Pope or the Pope’s new castle, which dates back to 1309 when Pope Clement V, an avid wine enthusiast moved the Vatican to Avignon, France. Avignon sits in the southern Rhone Valley, where the 4 grapes in this bottle - Grenache, Syrah, Mourvedre, Cinsault - and 9 others authorized by the appellation to use in making Chateauneuf du Pape flourish.
The primary grape here is Grenache, which goes by many names around the world, like Garnacha (Spain) or Cannonau (Italy), is one of the easiest drinking wines in the world with its low tannin and balanced acidity. Its flavor profile has been equated to fruit rollups and cinnamon. It is definitely a smoother wine that shows fruit very well and can be paired with just about anything or any occasion.

Gorgeous black raspberries, strawberry, spring flowers, incense, and assorted Provençal spice notes all emerge from the 2019 Châteauneuf Du Pape, a medium to full-bodied, incredibly pure, utterly seamless 2019 that excels on all accounts. Madame Ferando continues to knock it out of the park in just about every vintage, and this is well worth seeking out. The base cuvée is 85% Grenache and 5% each of Syrah, Mourvèdre, and Cinsault, aged all in concrete tanks.
