Occasional Wine Note: Condrieu is the home of Viognier and to this day, the standard for Viognier on a global scale. This is a great example of that standard. While most Viogniers are light and crisp, this one has a bit of weight with lots going on. Great stone fruit aromas and flavors mixed in with beautiful minerality. It's rich and elegant. A true beauty!

Like ripe peaches poached in a spiced liquor. Full-bodied and very powerful indeed. It has huge extract, intense salinity, driving acidity and great opulence, flowing into a long finish. A huge Condrieu. Parcels in Chavanay, Condrieu and Saint-Michel-sur-Rhône, at 250m altitude on average, south and southwest facing. Fermented in stainless steel, which finishes in barrique (10% new), where it spends 12 months. No racking, very little lees stirring.

Tasted blind. Spice, fennel and almond kernel. A good lick of freshness, ripe stone fruits and good concentration of fruit. Very weighty and rich, with good balance. Very long finish – pretty serious stuff!
